einrúm arkitektar, established in 2001 by Kristin Brynja Gunnarsdottir and Steffan Iwersen who both trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture. The Icelandic word einrum means “solitude”; it is compound of the syllables “ein” and “rum”, translating to “one-room” or “ mono-space”.
Our work has its roots in close cooperation with contractors, by trying to understand their needs, wishes and dreams, converting and transforming these ideas into spaces.
Our projects span from interior to town planning; from school buildings to airport solutions. We often collaborate with other advisory groups, and have experience in working in teams at different stages of creativity and execution of projects.
Sustainable solutions, not only by available techniques, but by implanting ideas as a lifestyle is where architecture will become a main player in the future.
